Medusa
32” x 42” woodcut on Masa paper
In this contemporary reimagining, Medusa works in a butcher shop, where her once-punitive snake-like features are now embraced as symbols of beauty and power. Her forked tongue, serpentine braids, and serpent tattoos on her arms draw inspiration from punk rock and body modification countercultures. Medusa’s story has evolved into a symbol of protection and strength for survivors of sexual assault.
